General Introduction to the Project

Milano Classica for Schools: this is the title of the teaching project that the Orchestra da Camera di Milano Classica dedicates to primary and lower secondary school students in Milan, the provincial area and Lombardy. The project aims to create an audience who, in the future, may attend classical music concerts for 'adults'. The project involves students in specific musical productions. Traditional pieces from the classical repertoire, as well as specially commissioned pieces based on the classics, are presented in the form of concerts with assisted listening, to allow young listeners to become familiar with music they tend to associate with adults, parents, grandparents, that is, classical music. This gives the students an opportunity to have an important experience which together with the listening habits common among young people (rock, pop, jazz) can provide an opportunity for growth and, perhaps, even increased maturity. The occasion becomes even more important, as it is conducted not only in music. Young listeners are always offered a show which is articulated through literature, as well as theater, in line with the needs of the new reformed school where interdisciplinarity is a core value.
